Founded in 1880, Brimmer and May is a PK – 12 co-ed day school located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Brimmer enrolls 390+ students each year, with an average class size of 12. Teachers personalize instruction in a student-centered, project-based learning environment. Teacher Mentor Program

Our Teacher Mentor Program is designed to support classroom performance, foster an understanding of working within the Brimmer community, provide opportunities for collaboration and professional growth, and support new teachers in all areas of School life. Each new teacher is paired with a colleague who serves as their mentor for two years. New faculty meet with their mentors regularly, as a cohort with the Co-Directors of Faculty Recruitment & Mentoring, and in Critical Friends Groups (CFG). Mentors also meet regularly as a group to discuss best practice as they work to support our new faculty.

Current Employment Opportunities

Structured Literacy Tutor K-5, Part-time (Fee-for-Service Position) 
We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and experienced in-person tutor to start in January 2025. This individual will provide individualized support to students with diverse learning profiles in grades K-5. Candidates should have experience providing direct instruction in decoding, spelling, fluency, reading comprehension, writing and study skills. Ideally, candidates should also have training and experience working with students with language-based learning disabilities, as well as executive functioning vulnerabilities. The candidate would work collaboratively with teachers and communicate effectively with parents about student needs and progress, under the guidance of the Director of Lower School Academic Services. A master’s degree in special education and/or certification in Orton-Gillingham (or Orton-Gillingham based approach) is highly desired. Sessions  take place after school (between 3 and 5:30). Candidates should have availability 2-4 days per week (they need not be available the entire 3-5:30 window). MS/US Tutoring Positions
(Fee-for-Service Positions)
We are seeking committed, enthusiastic, and experienced in-person academic tutors to work between 3 and 5 days a week between the hours of 8 am and 3:30 pm. This individual will provide one-to-one support to students with diverse learning profiles in grades 6-12. Successful candidates should have experience providing direct instruction in active reading strategies, formal writing structures, study skills, and executive functioning skills. Ideally, candidates should have training and experience working with students who have language-based learning disabilities, as well as experience teaching students with executive functioning vulnerabilities. The candidate will work under the direction of the Middle and Upper School Director of Academic Service. Athletics Coaching Positions

Coaches are responsible for practice planning, player improvement, effective communication and game management. Practices and games are scheduled Monday-Friday from 3:30-5:30 pm in the Upper School. Game days may require an occasional later end time. Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and resume to Athletic Director Tom Nelson. Stipends are commensurate with experience.
