Parents play an important role at Brimmer. We are a vital part of the community. In addition to being members of the Parents Association, our parents are invited to:

WE NEED YOU! We have some exciting events coming up that could use your expertise. Email us to see how you can get engaged, or follow our events in the Brimmer Bulletin, your Class Rep emails, or via Instagram!

Ongoing PA Events

List of 7 items.

  • Admissions Ambassadors

    Assist Admissions by giving tours at the Open House and “Walk-in Wednesdays”. Also register for peer pal and be a resource for prospective families. 
  • Library Volunteers

    Assist with shelving and organizing of books. Weekly or biweekly commitment. 
  • Birthday Books

    Write thank you notes to book donors. 
  • Athletic Boosters

    Organize weekly team communications, team gatherings, and end of season thank you's and dinner. 
  • Creative Arts Boosters

    Organize volunteers for any needs during the year, especially for MS/US theater productions. 
  • Lunch Duty Helpers

    Assist at PK-Grade 2 lunch periods pouring beverages. Weekly commitment. 
  • Class Representatives

    Send weekly emails with relevant school and grade information, serve as a vital resource for parents in the grade, and help plan engagement opportunities for parents and students (including the fall parent potluck).

Parents Association Meetings

The PA hosts monthly meetings featuring guest faculty or invited speakers on topics of interest and relevance to our Brimmer families. All Brimmer parents/guardians are invited, welcomed, and encouraged to attend!

Yearly PA Events

  • Fall Harvestfest

    An all school event celebrating autumn where upper and middle school students are paired with lower school students to participate in fun activities. Volunteers help with event planning, and activities on the morning of the event. Normally held on the last Friday in October. 
  • Community Service Events

    Join Brimmer parents in volunteering in the local community. We have gone to Community Servings in Jamaica Plain, and have provided snack bags to the Newton Food Pantry in the past. We are always looking for more opportunities to serve, so please reach out with any ideas. 
  • Faculty/Staff Appreciation

    A day of celebration for the faculty and staff at Brimmer. Volunteers will be needed to help plan for the event to make sure the whole community has an opportunity to celebrate faculty and staff. 
  • Academy Awards

    A fun event at the end of the year celebrating all the hard work of students involved in the many plays and musicals throughout the year. Volunteers needed for event planning, set-up and clean-up.
  • Celebration of the Arts

    In late spring the school comes together to celebrate all the artwork of the students. Volunteers will help with activity, food, set-up and clean-up.
  • Spring Carnival

    This fun two hour event allows the students to come on a Saturday to the Brimmer field for games, food, raffles, and more. Parents volunteer to help plan and run the event. 
  • Book Fair

Join Us for Friday Walks!

Every Friday we meet at 8:15 (weather permitting) and take a social walk around the BC Reservoir. This is a lovely way to get outside, move and meet fellow parents and enjoy conversation! Strollers and pets are welcome.

Parents’ Independent School Network, Inc. (PIN)

What is PIN? The Parents’ Independent School Network, Inc. (PIN) is a volunteer organization comprised of parent representatives from New England area independent schools.

PIN’s Mission: To provide educational programs to its member schools and to promote parental communication and awareness. PIN’s mission is delivered in the form of excellent guest speakers throughout the school year covering a variety of topics relevant to parents.
