Application Process

• All Grades

  • A digital application form, parent statement, and teacher recommendations are required for all grade levels. An interview is also a required part of the application process. 

  • To begin the application process please create a Ravenna Hub account. After you have created a student profile, navigate to the School Directory and choose to explore or apply to Brimmer and May School. From there you will be able to see all the application steps that are part of the process. For any technical questions, please contact Ravenna directly by following the instructions on the login page.  

  While applications to the School are due in mid-January, supplemental materials including teacher recommendation forms, transcripts, and test scores can be accepted through the end of the month. An incomplete application may result in the file being held for review and an admission decision delayed.

• Lower School (PK-5)

  • Please see the Lower School Interview FAQ for more information regarding the interview specifically 

  • Applications to grades PK–K should include recent school reports if and when available. 

  • Applications to grades 1-5 should include the current and previous year report cards and any relevant standardized test results (if available).

  • All Lower School Applicants are asked to complete an internal assessment, conducted on campus with activities designed by Brimmer teachers. During the sessions, students will meet teachers, visit the classrooms, and participate in a language arts and math assessment.

• Middle and Upper School (6-12)

  • Please see the Middle & Upper School Interview FAQ for more information regarding the interview specifically. 

  • Applications to grades 6-8 should include Grade reports for the current and previous academic year. 

  • Applicants to the Middle School are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam* (school code #220600) 

  • Applications to grades 9-12 should include Grade reports/transcripts for the current and previous academic year. 

  • Applicants to the Upper School are required to take the Secondary School Admissions Test* (school code #1860)

   *Educational evaluations may be accepted in lieu of the ISEE and SSAT. A graded writing sample is also required for applicants to grades 9-12.
