  BIO

  As the Brimmer Lower School librarian, Alissa’s goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive place where all students and staff feel represented and valued. Students who come to the library will explore diverse books, pursue personal and academic research, and work together to solve problems in creative ways. Besides books and other physical materials, the library also offers digital resources such as Sora (e-books and audiobooks) and other databases. 

   

  A global outlook is one of the core tenets of Alissa’s teaching. Although she was raised in Indiana, her time spent living abroad shaped her from an early age. Alissa spent her first grade year in Hamburg, Germany, and will never forget the experience of learning how to read, write, sing, and make friends in a new language. She has also studied Spanish and French, and from 2013-2020, lived in Montreal, Canada. 

   

  In her years as a librarian, Alissa has worked in several schools, both public and private, and has collaborated with colleagues on exciting projects including Battle of the Books, Technovation and a teen author festival. Most recently, she has been working on incorporating social and emotional learning (SEL) into her library lessons. 

   

  Outside of work, Alissa enjoys reading, spending time with her family, singing in a choir and traveling.
