Sound of Music National Touring Cast Visit

Middle School Creative Arts students were thrilled to have the special opportunity to host The Sound of Music National Touring cast at Brimmer in April —after seeing the show's production the prior week.

Students had the opportunity to ask the cast questions regarding their experiences in theater, as well as their training, schooling, and interests. Cast members performed several pieces for the students. Finally, they were treated to a Master Class during which students performed and were given feedback on staging, singing, and acting for the pieces they will be performing for Brimmer's production of The Sound of Music.

Elias Kazin '20 (Captain Von Trapp) and Dessie Bell-Kamen '20 (Maria) performed along with the actors playing the Von Trapp children: Georgia Branger-Klein (Gretl); Hadley Iselin '21 (Marta); Libby Foley '20 (Brigitta); Riley Shafer '21 (Kurt); Sarah Dean '20 (Louisa); Loch McRae '21 (Friedrich); and Stephanie Spector '21 (Liesl).

The national tour cast members also met with the Upper School Improv class and CAP students for a Q&A session. Cast members shared valuable practical information with the students on auditioning in NYC, how to get an Actor's Equity card, what the process is like for getting an agent, what they do for work for their day jobs, etc. It was a great session for Upper School students, especially for those who are considering pursuing theater as their careers.
