Our Amazing Alumni

“I miss Brimmer.” That was the sentiment of our alumni at our New York City gathering. As I moved about the private room in the heart of Manhattan, I listened to the careers and lives of our honored guests. A dentist (still in scrubs), financial advisor, documentary film writer (Ron Howard is her boss!), marketing director, lawyer (who still plays basketball), salesperson, events director, and many others shared stories of how Brimmer prepared them to excel in their work beyond college and graduate school. Good writing, strong math skills, and working collaboratively with a diverse population were among the top competencies discussed. They were a fun, adventuresome group of people, and the night ended too soon.

 

Every winter I travel to see our alumni. I visit with our Florida alumni and love hearing their stories about their experiences at Brimmer. They often talk about their favorite teachers, their memories of the many special occasions, and their mischief. I enjoyed a special lunch with a group of local women, and I listened to their animated recounting of the Brimmer years that were magical for them. Although each alumna was from a different decade, their stories sounded the same. They have a love of learning and a passion for life that started within the halls and walls of “69” and “73.”

 

A special thank you to Director of Alumni Affairs & Special Events Amanda Frank '88, P '22 who organizes these events. Typical of a Brimmer alum, she drove back quickly to Brimmer from NYC, so she could join her Curling team for the afternoon practice!
