STEAM Diploma Program

Hands-On Innovation and Real-World Experience

Since the opening of the Hastings Center, Brimmer students have gained access to advanced fabrication tools in our Innovation Space, Maker Space, and STEAM classroom—resources typically unavailable until college. Students accepted into the program can choose from four concentrations: Biomedical and Life Sciences, Architecture and Industrial Design, Technology and Robotics, and Engineering and Physical Sciences. These concentrations offer a range of courses, including Biotechnology, Digital Fabrication, Computer Science, and Engineering.

STEAM Diploma candidates also complete an internship, often between junior and senior year, with support from Brimmer’s extensive community network. This experience helps students develop essential skills like résumé writing, interviewing, and networking.

Guest speakers cover topics such as product development, securing patents, and lessons from start-up culture. This hands-on approach prepares students for real-world innovation. The program culminates in the year-long STEAM Lab course, where students design, create, and sell products, gaining entrepreneurial experience. Completion of the program leads to a special STEAM Diploma.

Program Director, Chris Hardman

We encourage collaboration through activities like Scrap-a-palooza, where students use recycled materials to create projects based on the theme of 'light.' They display great creativity and have fun bringing their ideas to life.
As an inclusive private school community, Brimmer welcomes students who will increase the diversity of our school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, or any other characteristic protected from discrimination under state or federal law, in the administration of our educational policies, admissions practices, financial aid decisions, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
